FAQ

For standard woodworking projects, the 2-in-1 stain and varnish product delivers performance comparable to applying a stain followed by a varnish.

However, for high-wear surfaces such as kitchen tables, stairs, or countertops, it is recommended to apply an additional coat of varnish to increase durability and wear resistance.

The level of sheen increases depending on the number of coats applied:

  • 1 coat: matte to satin finish
  • 2 coats: satin to semi-gloss finish
  • 3 coats: semi-gloss to gloss finish

Use of this 2-in-1 stain and varnish on flooring is not recommended. In general, any surface larger than a kitchen table may be difficult to complete, as the product dries quickly and may result in lap marks.

Yes, it is possible to stop at one coat if the stain color meets your expectations. However, it is essential to apply at least one coat of varnish on top to ensure adequate protection.

Please note: the more coats applied, the darker the color and the glossier the finish.

The product has a pink-tinted base, which affects the appearance of the stain in the container. Rest assured: once applied to the wood, the final color will match the selected shade.

Unfortunately, the only solution is to sand the surface and reapply the product. Applying additional stain over the surface will only accentuate existing lap marks.

The main advantage of the 2-in-1 stain and varnish product is time savings, as it reduces the number of steps required for most woodworking projects.

In addition, this product adheres to nearly all surfaces. To refinish melamine furniture or previously varnished cabinets, a simple TSP cleaning, followed by light sanding, is sufficient before application.

The sheen can be adjusted once the final color has been achieved by applying a water-based varnish over the surface to reach the desired finish.
